Getting email and hook up with Google Apps (using your own domain) has always been a little confusing for me and for my clients. Due to this, I’ve decided to document the settings and tweaks I make each time I set up a new account. These steps should help in getting you started with email for Outlook 2007.

  1. Go to “Tools > Account Settings…”. Select “New…” under E-mail.

  6. On the Outgoing Server tab, put a check in “My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication”. This should use the same settings as incoming mail server.

Note that this is just for email setup. If you are looking for information on how to set up the calendar app or other Google Apps options, please send me a message and I’ll compile some information.

Wrong version of Outlook? Wrong email program altogether? Let me know. I’ll send suggestions.
