Sharon Murphy

Sharon received a Masters Degree in Clarinet Performance from University of Louisville in 2008. Her activities included performing in the wind ensemble and orchestra, and coaching the clarinet ensemble. She also holds a Bachelors Degree in Music Education from Ball State. As both a clarinetist and percussionist, she was active in the Marimba Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, Orchestra, Clarinet Choir, various small chamber groups, and performed in three solo undergraduate recitals before graduating in 1998.

Over the years, she has held positions ranging from substitute teacher in the Indianapolis School District to band director in Duarte, California to Teacher of Record for University of Louisville’s clarinet ensemble, and every endeavor has brought her happiness and joy through music. She currently works as a secretary for the IT Division for Department of Defense – Dependent Schools (DoDDS) for Europe and performs clarinet and has coached clarinetists in the U.S. Army 1st Armored Division Band in Wiesbaden, Germany.

In her spare time, Sharon goofs around with her husband, Mathew, and spends time cuddling their two cats, Snickers and Tori. They’re expecting their first child in July.
